Queen’s Wharf, Brisbane

Queen’s Wharf is Australia’s largest casino resort development project and will span both sides of William Street in Brisbane’s CBD, featuring residential apartments, hotels, restaurants and entertainment facilities.

This site boasts an extraordinary history dating back to 190 years ago when European settlement began in Queensland. Now it will serve as the location of a stunning new future that celebrates both past and present with exquisite heritage buildings and iconic architecture that embody Australia’s dynamic indoor-outdoor lifestyle. The project will attract over 1.39 million visitors per year and be known worldwide as an iconic destination.

Queen’s Wharf Brisbane (QWB) will transform the heart of Brisbane city center with four luxury hotels – The Star Grand among them – 50 restaurants and bars, around 1,500 residential apartments, 12 football-field sized public spaces and breathtaking artworks as well as restoration of nine heritage buildings.

QWB will feature an iconic arc building with an expansive sky deck, as well as a pedestrian bridge to South Bank and Neville Bonner Bridge. Its 100 metre sky deck offers spectacular views of Brisbane River and city from 100 metres above street level.

One key element of the design was to integrate the new precinct into Brisbane’s public spaces, including creating an underground link connecting Treasury and Lands Administration buildings to a primary plaza near Commissariat Store. Furthermore, this development will connect to Brisbane’s primary city grid via new walkways as well as through Queen’s Park Road from Brisbane CBD.

Construction on Queen’s Wharf Brisbane project has officially commenced and is set for completion in 2024. This endeavor is being undertaken by Destination Brisbane Consortium – a joint venture formed by Star Entertainment Group and their Hong Kong-based partners Chow Tai Fook Enterprises and Far East Consortium International.

Multiplex has not received payment of its invoices as part of a dispute over delay claims, extensions of time and rising costs – putting its opening date for an integrated resort development worth AU$3.6 billion at risk. The consortium has asked Multiplex to pay $123,650,000 as liquidated damages while withholding further progress claims payments.

Multiplex will deliver core and shell works spanning the basement, base services, tower structures, and facade of the main integrated resort component. Furthermore, they will construct the Sky Deck, offering panoramic views from 100 metres above street level.

Queen’s Wharf Brisbane project has received the prestigious buildingSMART International Award for Best Design. This award celebrates their pioneering efforts in using Open BIM and IFC collaboration software on this multi-billion dollar endeavor, employing 16 different pieces of software provided by 39 contributing organizations to create its digital model resulting in its 6-star Green Star Communities rating.
